Recently thousands of males and females have been asked about the most distressing beauty calamities, and most respondents named pimples the most distressing problem. Acne, though preponderantly found in teens, may occur at any age. Acne can occur on the face, neck and back. How to treat? At first, try over-the-counter products, including those containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is the most usually used acne solution and is regarded as one of the most potent ones in the market. If you are suffering from mild forms of acne that is non-inflammatory, benzoyl peroxide is known as extremely efficient. Because it is safe for use on both grown-ups and kids, it is preferred to other acne treatments. Yet, there are some minor side effects. It can lead to dry skin. If your skin is too dry, stop applying the treatment for some time and then, administering a lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide, try out again. Salicylic acid works best on non-inflamed forms of acne and it starts by removing the dead skin, thereby keeping the skin pores pour and precluding blocking. But skin irritation is possible. At times patients complain of a stinging or burning sensation, flaking or peeking skin and dryness. If there are no visible results in a few weeks, ask your family doctor about prescription acne treatments, such as antibiotics, retinoids (Avita, Retin-A) and adapalene (Differin). Antibiotics prevent bacteria from growing and spreading in the body. Even though results become visible quicker, antibiotics are commonly not preferred by patients, as they trigger side effects, such as indigestion, discoloration of the skin, dizziness and sensitivity to light. For severe forms of cystic acne, your medical practitioner may prescribe isotretinoin (Accutane) or may send you to a specialist. Since grave side effects are possible, males and females administering Accutane should be cautiously monitored by their doctors. Laser or light therapy may be used if other acne solutions fail. Take the chance to have a clean radiant skin!
